Hunting With GUS

Gus started his Upland Hunting experience in Columbus, Texas at

TOP FLIGHT HUNTING PRESERVE.

He was four months old and already had solid obedience (off leash). 

He showed immediate interest in Gunfire and bird scent.

With his introduction to the field, he displayed the natural ability to point and retrieve without training.

By six months of age Gus was running perfect patterns, pointing, holding, flushing, and retrieving on cue. 

He had the added bonus of working well with other dogs and consistently hunting well by himself.

Since Gus's time at the preserve he has done extensive wild hunting throughout Eastern Oregon

for quail, chucker, partridge, grouse and pheasant. 

Gus has also excelled at water retrieving.   He shows great stamina and tolerance for cold conditions.

He follows directions well, is always alert and aware of birds, and has no problems retrieving long distances. 

He is an exceptionally strong swimmer and has retrieved many kinds of ducks and geese. 

Gus has an ideally soft mouth and has never damaged a bird.

We live in a remote location in reference to any hunt-test clubs/activities,

but may make future plans to achieve an AKC hunting title.

Until then, his experience and talent speaks for it's self.

Although it would be nice to have them,

 titles are one less expense to be passed down to potential gun-dog buyers by the breeder.

Folks are welcome to come out and see him in the field in person.
